(cos)WED: Silja's Costumes

After a long break, we are happy to start Cosplay Wednesday back up! This is right around the perfect time cosplayers are getting their photos in from the first conventions of the year. With that being said, we are here to introduce a cosplayer from Guardalajara, Mexico: Stephie from Silja's Costumes.  We are here to show you all her super cute and fun Star Guardian Ahri cosplay from League of Legends.  I remember when League of Legends released more Star Guardians and I just about died.  In the universe of League of Legends, Ahri is a vastaya who can reshape magic into orbs of raw energy.  She manipulates her prey through their emotions before devouring their life essence, but, still retains a sense of empathy as she receives memory flashes from each soul she consumes.  This nine tailed fox is a beauty! Check out how Stephie brought Star Guardian Ahri to life.

1. How long have you been cosplaying?
I've been cosplaying for around 7 almost 8 years now! It's a hobby that has gotten me through a lot of tough times and that has not stopped being very dear to my heart for that reason despite the amount of time that has passed. I think I'm not the only one that says that cosplay has helped my self esteem and general quality of life by introducing me to wonderful and passionate people. :D

2. Why did you choose to cosplay this character?
At first I didn't really like Ahri's new skin. Actually, I much prefer her classic version over most of her skins. But, combined with some convincing by somebody dear to me and the star guardian mode, I finally decided to cosplay her.

3. How long did it take you to complete?
This costume took 2 days to make. Yeah.. I didn't sleep much LOL.

4. Any difficulties when constructing the costume?
OH! Plenty and mostly due to time restrictions due to university. I had troubles mainly with the accessories and the tails. All of the stars on the costume are actually made out of heavy stock paper and cellophane (something that is very thankfully not noticeable on camera). The tails are stuffed with newspaper and the harness to make them stand up was created with TONS of tape, two belts and wire. I was suuuper pressed on time so I had to work with stuff I had lying around my house. All in all, I think I did a pretty good job at making this look good considering I only had 48 hours to create her in time for the con.

5. What do you love most about cosplaying this character?
THE TAILS! I absolutely loved the way they moved around when I was walking. A lot of congoers would approach me to touch/hug my tails and that made me very happy.

6. Where did you debut this costume? If you haven't... where do you plan to debut?
I used this costume for the first time during Concomics Music I think, and used it for a second (and last!) time at Nekomimicon.

7. What's next? Cosplay related of course...:
In two weeks I'm going to be a cosplay judge for a university event, and I have two other events before the year ends. I can't talk much about them right now, but I'm preparing a League of Legends and Overwatch cosplay for them!

That's amazing! Well we here at Lifted Geek are glad you were convinced to cosplay this star guardian.
