cos(WED): Juliet Starling (Lollipop Chainsaw) by Mimi Reaves
Written by: Riri (@lillyums)
Welcome to our Cosplay Wednesday segment! This week we welcome back Canadian cosplayer, Mimi Reaves. She's here to show us her Juliet Starling cosplay from Lollipop Chainsaw. I've always heard of Lollipop Chainsaw but have never played the game myself. In short, Lollipop Chainsaw is a hack and slash video game developed for the PS3 and XBox 360 and features Juliet Starling as the main character. Juliet Starling, as you can see from the reference photo, is a cheerleader, but not JUST a cheerleader... She is a zombie fighting cheerleader, using her main weapon - yes, that chainsaw, to slash those zombies up. At school, Juliet poses as a bubbly, innocent, lollipop-obsessed cheerleader. Outside of that, she is a secret zombie hunter - and she loves to slaughter them! Also, she can be at times quite vulgar especially during her zombie slaughtering. Now I really want to play this game! Let's see why Mimi picked this cosplay and how she made it!

1. How long have you been cosplaying?
I've enjoyed going to conventions and cosplaying since 2007!
2. Why did you choose to cosplay this character?
She seems like such a fun character! I was drawn to the colours in her costume and also the badass chainsaw.
3. How long did it take you to complete?
Not including research time (which is probably A LOT), I'd estimate around 50 hours.
4. Any difficulties when constructing the costume?
Yes actually! The research took a while because I found out that the fabric of her uniform was actually not solid spandex, but that type of jersey knit that has holes in it. The fabric I found that matched the colour wasn't very good quality, so when I went to iron the logo onto the top (after having already stitched the top), it melted the fabric! I was devastated and had to wait until the next convention to wear my cosplay and it took another 15-ish hours to make a new top and cut out the logo all over again.
5. What do you love most about cosplaying this character?
She has so much spunk to her, it's so easy to pose for photos because I can do so much. The chainsaw prop also helps!
6. Where did you debut this costume? If you haven't... where do you plan to debut?
Anime Evolution, June 2014
7. What's next? Cosplay related of course...
I'm currently working on a new Daenerys Targaryen cosplay :)
Great job figuring out the problem and remaking the top :) Making cosplay takes time and a lot of patience.
