The Avenger's BIG THREE Looks Mighty Familiar...

Hot on the heels of Marvel announcing that the new Thor will be a woman, two more big announcements in the Marvel comics universe hit today. Looks like Steve Rogers will be giving up the mantle of Captain America after he has the Super Soldier Serum extracted from his body. The new Cap? None other than Sam "Falcon" Wilson. If you saw the recent Winter Soldier flick, you'll recognize the name as the character played by Anthony Mackie. Here's my two-pennies... I can dig the change, thinking of any other hero who could take on the mantle of Cap... I can't imagine another Marvel hero to don the Vibranium shield other than Falcon.

With this comes the announcement of the Avengers NOW! initiative. Starting in the Fall, a new series of Avengers books with begin with a new cast of heroes and the Big A's Big Three firmly planted front and center. The new female Thor, Falcon as Captain America, and what looks like a new suit of armor for Tony Stark that seems like it was designed by Jony Ive (Sr. VP of Design at Apple Inc). Can we start calling Tony iRON MAN? Will J.A.R.V.I.S. or P.E.P.P.E.R. be replaced with Siri?

News broke by Entertainment Weekly. Jony Ive unveils the new Iron Man... dubbed the iRON MAN. A sophisticated suit that links seamlessly to iTunes and uses Siri voice recognition technology.

What's interesting to me is... how familiar this is. Does the Avenger's BIG THREE seem familiar to you? We have: a red, white, and blue hero that can fly (as long as he keeps his wings), a female character inspired by Norse mythology... a warrior Princess if you will, and a billionaire industrialist with no super powers but cool gadgets. If you see the Justice League's BIG THREE here you wouldn't be mistaken. Was this all a coincidence? Or does Marvel intend to inject a big of JLA into the big A. Sound off in the comments below.
