(cos)WED: Breaking Bad Heisenberg by Sarah Spears

This week's Cosplay Wednesday features Sarah Spears showing us her Breaking Bad inspired cosplay photos.  Many of us who have seen Breaking Bad love this show; it was one of the most popular shows of the time.  If you haven't seen this yet, Breaking Bad is about two men (Heisenberg and Jesse Pinkman) who create the purest crystal meth and we watch as they embark on a career of drugs and crime with this stuff. Check out how Sarah Spears recreates Heisenberg as her own.

1. How long have you been cosplaying?
I have been cosplaying for quite some time now. It's been easy for me because my sister has sewn since she was a kid and we have always made costumes together. Even before I was really old enough to go to conventions and celebrate Cosplay in a direct way, I have been cosplaying my favorite characters. I can't describe how fun it is to be out there expressing my love for cosplay with so many other people!

2. Why did you choose to cosplay this character?
Breaking Bad is my favorite show of all time. When I was given the opportunity to do a Breaking Bad inspired photo shoot I couldn't say no. I also love cooking in my Los Pollos Hermanos apron on the daily. Whatever I can do to show my love for Breaking Bad I will do in a heartbeat.

3. How long did it take you to complete?
A lot went into the whole shoot for this cosplay. The costume itself took a few days to really get looking right. The thing about it that took the longest was painting the Heisenberg logo on the back of it. I wanted people to know exactly what I was going for so I knew having the logo on the back would really get the point across.

4. Any difficulties when constructing the costume?
There was no real difficulty when making the costume but the whole shoot didn't go as planned. The biggest issue was the blue glass candy that is on the floor. It wasn't hard to make, luckily, but I did end up breaking my candy thermometer in the process! Not only that but it was very sticky and actually somewhat sharp considering it was made from a bunch of died sugar.

5. What do you love most about cosplaying this character?
I loved everything about cosplaying in the theme of Breaking Bad. It wasn't just because I loved the show but because it actually felt really cool to wear. I loved putting effort into making this shoot happen from every angle. Everything from collecting all that cash to smashing up the Blue Sky all over the floor was really fun.

6. Where did you debut this costume? If you haven't... where do you plan to debut?
I haven't worn this costume out yet but I plan to. I am going to Wondercon in a few days but have some Zelda inspired outfits to wear for that. I have a day at SDCC opened that I am thinking about doing this for.

7. What's next? Cosplay related of course...
I love this question. I am the type of person who always looks forward to what's to come and I have a lot planned. Next, I will be doing Butterfree from Pokemon to celebrate the 20th anniversary. I also have Slave Leia from Star Wars and The Great Fairy from The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time planned for the very near future.

Definitely loving the blue candy props, and all that cash - just so fitting to Breaking Bad!
