This week's Cosplay Wednesday features local Seattle cosplayer, Jerikandra, here to show us her Ms. Marvel cosplay.  Carol Danvers was debuted as the first incarnation of Ms. Marvel, and her superpowers were developed from a fusion of alien Kree and human genes. She seems to have a plethora of superpowers...superhuman strength, durability, reflexes, agility, she can FLY, contains immunity to certain poisons, and finally she can fire photonic blasts and can absorb energy.  What a woman!  Here's how well Jerikandra portrayed this powerful woman and what she had to say about making this cosplay.

1. How long have you been cosplaying?
Since 2013 so ~ 2 years or so.

2. Why did you choose to cosplay this character?
Ms Marvel was suggested to me from friends when I wanted to make my first latex cosplay. I'd commissioned latex costumes in the past and really liked them but wanted the extra ownership and pride that comes with creating your own. So with help from the internet, I learned the ways of latex.

So I guess you could say I was interested in Ms Marvel because it was mostly a simple bodysuit but as I researched the character that is Carol (mostly be reading comics), I came to love her raw power and personality too.

3. How long did it take you to complete?
It took me about 2- 3 months to get this costume right.

4. Any difficulties when constructing the costume?
I started out patterning (because I couldn't find a decent bodysuit pattern) and I first created the costume out of spandex and sewed it together using my duct tape dress form. It took lots of modification of this and taking the costume in and re-shaping the pattern before I even attempted the costume in latex itself.

Once I did, the costume came out great but the latex stockings I had purchased were too tight and for the debut at ECCC, they kept rolling down. So for my next con, I successfully made my own stockings and proved once again, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself ;)

5. What do you love most about cosplaying this character?
Carol is raw power. She's indestructable and yet at the same time she questions herself along the way and it shows her humanity.

6. Where did you debut this costume? If you haven't... where do you plan to debut?
I debuted it at Emerald City Comicon but the better version was shown at Big Wow Comicon in San Jose.

7. What's next? Cosplay related of course...
Next? Probably a latex version of Ariel and maybe a vinyl version of Batgirl but first this summer it's all about superhero swimsuits ;) You'll see!

Great job Jerikandra! So much work was put into this and it came out looking MARVELous :)
