Cosplay Wednesday: Toph from Avatar by Dream Kitty Cosplay

Welcome our next Cosplay Wednesday feature, DreamKitty Cosplay! She presents her cosplay as Toph from Avatar the Last Airbender.  Toph Beifong, the "Blind Bandit," was the most powerful master of earthbending during her time. She is fiercely independent and sarcastic, yet very careful and adventurous. We can see why anyone would have an affinity for this character! Check out how DreamKitty cosplay was able to turn herself into this carefree, earthbending master.

1. How long have you been cosplaying?
About 5 years-ish. I just started really trying within the last 3 though.

2. Why did you choose this cosplay?
I LOVE Toph! She's a badass. I love her personality and how carefree she is. I also have a huge love for the colours red and gold (or red and yellow) so when I saw this outfit, I knew I HAD to make it.

3. How long did it take to complete?
Funny story, I actually made the whole thing in one night. About 6 hours. I wasn't even planning on making it, but I got inspired and just worked like a madwoman until 4am to finish it.

4. What was the hardest part when constructing it?
Oh definitely the wig! What a pain in the arse! I had to sew 2 wigs and a set of bangs extensions into it. And stuff it. And spray the sucker with a ton of hairspray. It's comfy to wear at least.

5. What do you love most about this cosplay?
The reaction I get from people when I wear it. People who've seen the series all seem to love Toph and this design isn't one of the more cosplayed versions so people are always reacting well when I wear it, whether its nice comments or wanting pictures together.

6. Are you debuting this at a convention? If you already have, which convention?
I already debuted this at a very small local con, and then at Anime North in 2013.

7. What's your next cosplay project?
Eowyn's white dress from LOTR: Two Towers, and hopefully something with some armor...I've got an itch to make a barbarian from Diablo III, I might give that a go.

Excellent work, DreamKitty! You definitely nailed it!
