performing as Childish Gambino
So news has broken that Donald Glover and his Troy Barnes character will be going part time for the forthcoming fifth season of NBC comedy series Community . Reports are stating that this is so Glover can focus more on his music career as Childish Gambino, his hip hop alter ego. Glover will appear in only 5 of the coming 13 episodes of season 5, less than half.
Personally, I don't know how I feel about this. While I am a huge fan of Community and Troy Barnes is one of my favorite characters on the show, I also follow Childish Gambino and get many an awesome workout in to his jams. On the upside, Dan Harmon is back for season 5 after being so unceremoniously let go after three fantastic seasons. That empty space was felt throughout most of season four, and with Chevy Chase no longer being a member of the cast, makes me wonder just how much further can this show go.
Either way, I'll be looking forward to this fifth season and hopefully a few more hot tracks from Childish Gambino. Just hope we can get a few more "Troy and Abed in the Mooooorning" segments.
