Hitting Tsukino Con 2016

Tsukino-con is a local convention in Victoria, British Columbia. It is fairly small convention with a big warm welcoming feel. Majority of the attendees are regulars every year. Held in the middle of the University of Victoria spread in three buildings in which all panels and events happen. So as you can tell it is fairly spread out.

Even though there isn't many rooms, there is many panels you can attend from all ages to eighteen plus. Varieties from talking about anime, cosplay, voice acting, games, and swimsuit contest. Another thing to do is free play which also in its own building has many different things to do from videos games, table top, card games, etc.

Small list of special guests but never disappoint. Regular guest every year is Curtis Arnott also known as Takahata101 from Team Four Star. This years Japanese voice actor guest is Kensho Ono best known for his performances as Tetsuya Kuoko in "Kuroko no Basket" and Hakuryuu Ren in "Magi" Other guests this year are Tarah-Rex, Lunar Crow, and AllieCat who are amazing local cosplayers to British Columbia.

Vendor hall has its very own building in which there is two floors you can look at various arts from fan art to leather work to video games. In the same building they had their concession stand of the general snacks of chips, candy bars, pizza bread, and attendees favourite ramen bowls.

The most interesting panel I attended was "3DWD: Anime explained by three drunk white dudes" While sitting in of listening to three drunk dudes talking about anime clips without subtitles it was highly entertaining. With many hilarious comments. They sit on chairs watching projector in front of us as we all watch clips as they are guessing Japanese words and being completely off or surprisingly correct.

There was a wide varity of cosplay during Tsukino-Con. It was a mixture of all styles, Anime, Comic, Movie, and Video Games. I noticed here there was more pairing, and family cosplaying together than the regular single. Many adorable children who could barely walk were even part of the community. I always enjoy attending this convention every year, even though it is the smallest one I attend it sure feels big knowing many people, and befriending new so easily. Until next year. =)
