Thanks to the folks over at Entertainment Weekly, we get our first glimpse at Brandon Routh in his Atom suit. The former Superman trades in blue and red tights for blue and red futuristic armor. For those who've been watching, the Arrow-verse version of Ray Palmer has been slowly but surely working towards becoming a hero that Starling City needs.
Personally I'm psyched, I can't wait to see what they plan to do with the character. While I know that Ray Palmer wasn't the first choice the showrunners were aiming for, since originally they wanted to bring Ted Kord/The Blue Bettle to the show but DC Comics denied their request stating that they had other plans for The Blue Beetle... perhaps in the movie-verse?
With Ant-Man gaining considerable buzz with the forthcoming Marvel pictures adaptation, DC Comics introducing their amazingly shrinking hero feels like the perfect move for the already stellar DC Comics television universe.
Brandon Routh is set to appear as The Atom on the February 25th episode of Arrow, "Nanda Parbat." Wonder what's going to happen and how he'll fit in with Team Arrow... personally, I'm still hoping Wilcat comes out of vigilante retirement.
