Let's Talk Persona 5 The Royal

We finally get the information we’ve been clamoring for since Persona 5R was first briefly teased. Today, Atlus revealed via their Japanese YouTube channel another more in depth trailer of what P5R is… looks like one of the best RPGs to grace the PS4 is getting the remix treatment like Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 Golden.

Let’s unpack this trailer a bit. Once again set in the sprawling city, we hear Goro “F’ing Pancakes” Akechi speaking to a yet unnamed individual. She’s a Shujin student, has red hair and is wearing bright red shoes.

While people are already expecting this to be the female MC, I personally hope she is too, perhaps she’s more like a new character. While it would be nice to assume she’s a new party member, personally I feel like the cast was already stacked and perfectly balanced… maybe finally make Hifumi a Phantom Thief… but overall our Scooby gang works well as is.

What I predict is that this new character is going to play in to an expanded story, perhaps this can be the Akechi redemption arc? The fact that she’s talking to Pancakes in the trailer, it leads me to believe that this new character will play an integral role in further developing Akechi as a character.

So far, all we know is that we can expect more information to come on April 24th… hopefully it’ll be with a release date eh?
