WanderZzZz - Wandersong (REVIEW)

Hey all so this is my first game review… that I have put out into the public. So let’s talk about what you are about to read. This is my voice and my gaming experience. I am a pretty hardcore gamer favoring rogue-likes and 4x games. But I am also 33; Mario, Zelda, Kirby… These are my blood. The foundation that I pull from as I turned on Wandersong and… well… kinda just played it for a while.

Wandersong is a great trainer game. The puzzles are not too hard. The world is fun, pretty, and fun to play in. The NPCs are fun to talk to and the dialogue is self-aware and colorful. You are Link, Mario, Kirby… But unlike those heroes in the modern age, you only have one trick to solve all these puzzles. And that is where I fell off. I wanted collectibles, coins, pets, something. While the game is colorful it quickly dulled for me.

The little nerd in me that needs validation of my skill and achievements felt robbed in a game that just wants you to take a walk. I found that each time it was just not the game I wanted to play in my limited freetime. My 8 year old likes it. They enjoy the challenge of timing the music right having never played guitar hero. And the wacky 2D world is fresh to eyes that didn’t 100% Paper Mario.

VERDICT

Overall If you need a meditative game that will allow you to feel free and hopeful in spirit this is a good game for you. I enjoyed the time I spent in it. I just need my games to hate me a little more to get me to come back. AND YES I AM ALREADY IN THERAPY ABOUT IT!

3 out of 5

Wanted more… instead I got a Wandersnooze
