Minority Report "Fredi" (REVIEW)
written by Omar Castillon (omar_castillon)
Another week with Dash and friends as they try to solve the mystery of who will potentially murder another helpless victim. We briefly get a scene where Dash and Arthur struggle with the whole vision Agatha has from the previous episode…yet again. It’s as if they are now trying too hard to emphasize the danger Dash is putting the three siblings in. It wouldn’t be too bad if the twins don’t speak to each other for the rest of the episode but they obviously reconcile and help with Dash’s investigation.
This leads to the mystery of the week. The murder vision Dash has is of a woman struggling with a man and a dog barking in the background. Little hints around the area of the murder such as the dog connect to a rich man by the name of Bello. Well at least the last name of Bello who comes from a family of wealth. Vega and Dash crash one of Bello’s socialite parties and that is where we meet up with Dash’s first love interest Fredi. Fredi is the typical happy go lucky woman that catches Dash’s attention when he mingles. For some vague reason, Vega has a side quest of her own as she talks to some dastardly gentleman at the party forcing Dash to be social for once. Dash notices Fredi’s bracelet and realizes she is the vision he had earlier.
What ensues is Dash actually being left on his own to investigate the vision as he is smitten by Fredi and having a conflicting feeling that she is truly a victim and not just some other woman. It’s actually a modest change of pace for the Dash’s character as he goes through the whole puppy love syndrome with a fiercely independent woman like Fredi. That’s not to say that Vega and Dash might not become an item one day but for now they are fine just being business partners. Dash meets Bello at his barbecue party with the help of Fredi. It is there that he gets a feel for how Bello is as a person and obviously; he ends up being a pompous jackass. Dash and Fredi leave the party and it is then revealed that Fredi actually has a hidden agenda to being part of Bello’s company. Revenge for Fredi’s sister is her motivation since two years prior to the date, Fredi’s sister was killed or left for dead and Bello along with other rich kids left her sister to die. Fredi doesn’t seem like the happy go lucky girl from the beginning of the episode at all. This puts Dash in a real struggle since he does like her and wants to do whatever he can to help her out, but Vega has to step in and bring Dash to his senses. Long story short, Dash cuts it close to having his vision come to reality but he stops it from happening with the unfortunate departure of his first love interest in the series.
Agatha also has a sort of side quest with the government agent on the run from the law. She has to get the plans from Precrime somehow and uses the government agent to do so. She at first seems rational and then by the end of the episode she becomes someone you don’t want to negotiate with. Her calm demeanor is deceiving and she uses that to her advantage. There wasn’t too much else explained in this plot point, but I would have rather had more of her story than the murder mystery of the week. It was nice to see Dash go on his own without much help from Vega or Arthur, but alas, the two characters in some way end up being the problem solvers yet again. I know it is only four episodes into the series, but they need to step up the variety and not play it so safe with the typical murder mystery of the week. I honestly had to re-watch the episode twice in order to make sense out of it since I kept going to sleep the first time around. Basically, that’s not a good sign. We’ll see what happens in next week’s episode.
