This week’s Cosplay Wednesday feature goes to local Seattle cosplayer, Jerikandra Cosplay. If you’re not on top of CW’s series, Supergirl, get on it! The series takes place years after Kal-El becomes Superman, and Kara Zor-El aka Kara Danvers is living in National City working as a reporter and must learn to embrace her powers as “Supergirl.” She is selfless, brave and intelligent and has a strong sense of justice and morals, but it hit with guilt hard if she makes mistakes. Check out how Jerikandra brought Supergirl to life.

1. How long have you been cosplaying?
About 5 years now.

2. Why did you choose to cosplay this character?
Ever since the new Supergirl TV show came out, I've been wanting to cosplay her....adding her to my main versions of Supergirl. I'm still a huge fan of probably all versions of Supergirl.

3. How long did it take you to complete?
This ended up being one of the quickest costumes I made recently because I was constrained by a deadline. I didn't get her done in time for Emerald City Comic-con but I had 2 weeks between that and Wonder Con that I really wanted to finish it for. I spent several nights working on it and did end up getting it done in time =)

4. Any difficulties when constructing the costume?
Yeah, the costume in the show is this weird printed fabric and of course I still wanted to work with Latex so I had Yummy Gummy latex make me some special latex sheeting that had both glitter and a weird kind of printing on it. The look seemed to mimic the show's version pretty well but unfortunately what I found out after wearing the costume a few times is the printing made the latex weaker and it often started ripping in a lot of places. After a year of wearing this costume, I have had to repair rips after every single wear. Unfortunately now that I've retired the costume, I don't feel like I can even sell it because of the continual ripping.

5. What do you love most about cosplaying this character?
Supergirl is a powerful woman so embodying her is always fun. It's good to feel strong. On top of that, the fact that she is so recognizable, esp the TV show version, makes it even more fun. The kids are often the best part because they think you're the real supergirl =)

6. Where did you debut this costume? If you haven't... where do you plan to debut?
I debuted it at Wonder Con 2018.

7. What's next? Cosplay related of course..
2019 is going to have some fun plans, 7 of 9, Cammy from Street fighter, and Red Lantern Supergirl too ;)

Awesome, Jerikandra! We’re looking forward to seeing what you got this year!
