What can I say? These guys know how to throw a party. I’ve been to a lot of cons, from the big ones like San Diego Comic Con to smaller local cons like Aki Con here in WA. SGC wasn’t a huge con, but their followers (lovingly called the G1s) make a room of 1,000 people feel like 10,000...
So I’m going to start of by saying, I’m kind of biased. The main reason I was there was to support my buddies over at Ara’Kus Productions and my girls in Dark Dolls. That being said, I got to see both of them do their thing on the first night.
What a trip! I got to travel to Reykjavik, Iceland to attend the Eve Online FanFest at the beautiful Harpa Convention, hosted by CCP Games on April 25-27. As soon as we landed and walked to baggage claim, nearly one wall was covered with banners of EVE FanFest! Right away you know how big EVE online is, especially when they have banners especially made for advertisement at the airport. This year is also EVE Online's 10 year anniversary!...
OK, here we go. My first Fan Expo Vancouver weekend has ended. My friends and I are feeling the effects of 2 days walking around...
Seriously, there was just not enough Kiritos and Asunas (*sarcasm*). There was also a lackage of Yuis, though I was glad I got to cosplay her, along with 2-3 other Yuis. Oh and one large man Yui. A Manui , but I digress.
This con has come a long way in 10 years, from humble beginnings in 2003 at the West Field Plaza...
I remember this launch well, it was the Fall of 2000 and I was in my senior year of High School (wow this really feels like it was ages ago!).
